RICH AND ROMANTIC: Mass and Motets by Kodaly, Mendelssohn, Bruckner, Brahms, and Vaughan Williams.
For the Spring Masterworks the Chorale is singing as the major work Kodaly Missa Brevis for choir, organ, soprano, alto, tenor and baritone soloists. Other works include a significant motet by Vaughan Williams—Lord, Thou Hast Been Our Refuge, for solo quartet, acapella chorus and organ and the famous acapella motet Christus Factus Est by Anton Bruckner. Lighter works included are three choral settings of secular poems by Brahms: There Goes a Sighing Through the Wood, The Falcon, and Forest Night. The one hour concert begins with excerpts from Elijah by Felix Mendelssohn: Lord, Our Creator, Lift Thine Eyes, He, Watching Over Israel, and He That Shall Endure To the End.
